Srinagar, Nov 09 (KNO): Following a short span of time of government formation, authorities have raised concerns over those families and individuals who have given their land for construction of schools but have not been given any appointment or compensation so far. In this regard, Education Minister, Sakina Itoo has sought list of such cases from the concerned authorities in a weeks time. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the minister in a review meeting of the School Education Department asked the directors of school education of both Jammu and Kashmir regions to prepare a list of such cases. Sakina in the meeting said, “It has come to my notice that somne individuals or families have given their land for construction of schools and neither their family member has been given appointment nor any kind of compensation has been provided to them.” In the meeting, it was advised that Directors of School Education in both Jammu and Kashmir regions shall prepare the lists of such cases and submit the same within one week positively. Pertinently, KNO has reported that in times of 7th pay commission wherein government employees enjoy the perks of 7th pay commission, thousands of Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) in school education department are being paid a meager monthly salary—ranging from Rs 25 to 500. The majority of the CPW’s have provided the land to the school education department. KNO earlier spoke to some of the CPWs who alleged that the then government has promised them of a secure job in return of their land which they have provided to the school education department for establishing educational institutions—(KNO)
